Lord Garren is an arrogant traveling musician who appears in Straysong Village to perform in Bloomfest. He shocks and awes the entire town, and catches the eye of Avelyn, Fren's interest. When he hears of Brother Dotham's offer to set someone up to become a bard for the nobility, he takes the job when Avron makes Fren refuse it. Avelyn chooses to leave with him instead of remaining with Fren.
