The shrey are a nocturnal, carnivorous rodent, about the size of a medium dog, having glowing red eyes and a shriek that can literally knock down smaller animals. They are lazy hunters, generally scavenging on carrion, but enjoys fresh meat with as much exuberance. They are known for being territorial and will protect their meal with ferociousness and tenacity, many times preferring the invader for their meal. Although they can be a nuisance, they keep the forest floor free of diseased and rotting animals.
